You will, hopefully, have all received the RFU email concerning the Global Law Trials being implemented by World Rugby.

The Law Trials are:
• Quicker conversions.
• A new set time to form a lineout (in line with 30 seconds at the scrum).
• Cleaner play away from the ruck/maul/scrum.
• Not straight at uncontested lineout = play on.

You will note that the Law Trials commence on the 1st January 2025. However, to avoid any disruption or unintended consequences to RFU Competitions, The RFU Laws Sub-Committee has agreed that in England these law trials will only come into effect on 1st July 2025.
This means that in the East Midlands there will be no law changes to any games that we officiate the 2024-2025 season. This includes the RFU Leagues, The East Midland Merit Tables, The N&DRA Cups, The Bedfordshire Cups, The Papa John's Cups and any friendlies that EMRURS appoints referees to.
