Following the heavy publicity around concussion in rugby you will all the aware of the RFU Headcase initiative.
It is incumbent upon all match officials to keep up-to-date with the current concussion advice and protocols.
The RFU Headcase resources can be found at
A reminder, there is no such thing as an Head Injury Assessment (HIA) at our level of the game. In all cases we are advised to "Recognise and Remove" players who may have suffered a concussion. As the referee you are the final arbiter on the field and you must make the final decision. Don't feel afraid to overrule coaches and medics if you feel it is necessary.
